AltLaw Has Been Added to the Databases Page

AltLaw is a free, full-text searchable database of Supreme Court and Federal Appellate cases. It covers Supreme Court cases back to 1759. The database includes Appeals court cases from 40's to the present. The database was created by Columbia Law School and Colorado Law School.

Gartner Research Has Been Added to the Databases Page

Gartner offers the combined efforts of 1,200 research analysts and consultants in the field of information technology who advise executives in 75 countries every day, publishing tens of thousands of pages of original research annually and answer 200,000 client questions every year.

Scirus Has Been Added to the Databases Page

Scirus indexes more than 450 million scientific items. The database searches journal content, scientists' homepages, courseware, pre-print server material, patents and institutional repository, and website information.

Free Trial for Art Museum Image Gallery

Digital resource of art images and related multimedia gathered from the collections of distinguished museums around the world. The Art Museum Image Gallery can be searched alone or simultaneously with other WilsonWeb databases, including Art Full Text and Art Index Retrospective. It is a rich digital resource of art images, copyright-cleared for educational use.Cultures and time periods represented range from contemporary art, Native American and Inuit art, to ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works, along with Japanese and Chinese works. The database includes numerous multimedia files.Art Museum Image Gallery is available from the Databases page. The trial ends April 30th.

Oxford Music Online cross-searches Grove Music Online and the Encyclopedia of Popular Music. Oxford Music Online is available from the Databases page. The trial ends April 30th.

Free Trial for Springer Protocols

Springer Protocols covers laboratory protocols in the Life and Biomedical Sciences. Access nearly thirty years worth of easily reproducible, step-by-step protocols for immediate use in the lab, written by renowned experts in the field, organized in an easily reproducible recipe style, and offering helpful tips in the "notes" section. Springer Protocols is available from the Databases page. The trial ends April 17th.

April 2008 Tip of the Month


If you need information on finding IRS publications and forms you might see our How to Find Tax Forms Online research guide. The guide will show you where to find both state and federal tax publications. Although the library has some Indiana tax forms this may be a convenient way for you find the forms you need.

Winston Churchill: The Literary History of Politics

Robert F. Kennedy: The 1968 Indiana Primary

Robert F. Kennedy: The 1968 Indiana Primary will be presented by Ray E. Boomhower on April 21st at 7:30 in Bracken Library Forum Room (BL 225). The free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Alexander M. Bracken Library and is open to the public. The author will have copies of his new book of the same title for sale and signing. Archetype: The Social Revolution of Writing will be on exhibit in the Alexander M. Bracken Library through April 30, 2008. The exhibition chronicles the history and development of written and printed communication. Rare items from Archives and Special Collections along with contemporary work by students from Ball StateĆ­s Department of Art are on display on the second floor outside Archives and Special Collections and on the first floor of Bracken Library. The exhibit was prepared by students in junior-level visual communication classes under the direction of Dr. Christine Satory, Associate Professor of Art, Visual Communications.
