Art Museum Image Gallery Has Been Added to the Databases Page

The Art Museum Image Gallery is a digital resource of art images and related multimedia gathered from the collections of museums around the world. The Art Museum Image Gallery can be searched alone or simultaneously with other WilsonWeb databases, including Art Full Text, Art Index Retrospective, and Biography Reference Bank. It is a resource of art images, right-cleared for educational use. Cultures and time periods represented range from contemporary art, Native American and Inuit art, to ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works, along with Japanese and Chinese works. The database includes numerous multimedia files.

Now covers some 500,000 people (and growing!). Information stays up-to-date with links to the latest coverage from thousands of periodicals--full-text articles, book reviews, interviews, and more.

Cabell’s Business Directories Has Been Added to the Databases Page

Cabell’s Business Directories allows you to find publishing guidelines for refereed journals in these fields of inquiry: Accounting, Economics and Finance, Management, Marketing, and Business.

CQ Weekly Has Been Added to the Databases Page

CQ Weekly covers virtually every act of Congress, delivering in-depth reports on congressional issues, plus a complete wrap up of the previous week's news, including the status of bills in play, behind-the-scenes maneuvering, committee and floor activity, debates and all roll-call votes. Search by topic, page number, committee, "exact phrases or words," bill number, byline or reporter and by Boolean full-text and date searches. Detailed floor votes dating back to August 1983 are easily retrieved.

Play Index Has Been Added to the Databases Page

Play Index on WilsonWeb is the electronic version of Play Index. It allows you to search over 30,000 plays written from Antiquity to the present and published from 1949 to the present in the convenient electronic form that patrons prefer. Play Index covers a wide range of plays written in or translated into English, including mysteries, pageants, plays in verse, puppet performances, radio and television plays, and classic drama. Search for plays by title, author, subject, style, genre, and more. Play Index provides the full publication details needed to locate the play in its published manifestations.

Free Trials for Sport Discus Added to the Databases Page

We currently have free trials for three versions of Sport Discus which is the key database for sport medicine, physical education, and physical therapy. Of the two trials through EBSCO, one has full text and the other does not. The third version is a trial through Ovid. All three trials end August 31st.

August 2006 Tip of the Month

In order for your students to do their best work it is important for them to be familiar with, and know how to use, the resources available to them. InstructionalServices offers library instruction sessions designed around your students' class assignments. Subject-specific sessions are designed to help them locate and evaluate relevant resources. Librarians will help your students develop the information-seeking skills necessary for their academic success. Please schedule your class at least two weeks in advance.

Coming to Ball State: Freshman Life 101

The Archives and Special Collection Research Center presents an exhibit recognizing the arrival of Ball State’s 88th freshman class. On display will be materials from the University Archives collections—photographs, yearbooks, Cardinal Code freshmen handbooks, Ball State catalogs, and other items—that reveal freshman life on campus from 1919 to the present. “Coming to Ball State: Freshman Life 101” will be on display on the second floor of Bracken Library through September 30.
